Some background on my speaking...

I’ve been speaking, giving workshops, and doing immersive training professionally for about 10 years. In that time, I've spoken to medical centers, conferences, and corporate groups across the country as well as leaders and their teams from China, Asia Pacific, Japan, India, Latin America, and Central Africa.

Recently, I was gratified to be invited to speak at TEDxSeattle, one of the largest regional TEDx events in the nation. The talk, Reimagining Compassion as Power, reveals that empathy is a teachable set of practices that can be used repeatably and reliably to produce significant forward progress for change or conflict management.

Healing from the Heart

Healing from the Heart is where the work started. Tim was commissioned to come up with training that would help caregivers reflect on their work and figure out how to work better with very challenging patients--patients who threatened to sue, who were so threatening that security escorted them from the building, who were lost in grief, or considered clinically incorrigible.

He built up a set of skills that offer a different approach to patient care, an approach that works not just to resolve difficult situations but to create a rapport between the caregiver and patient that makes the experience of working together more satisfying for both. And the healthcare industry embraced it whole-heartedly.

Impact and Influence

Tim has given talks and workshops on the framework to corporate staff looking for a way to distinguish themselves from their peers, engineers preparing to engage large corporations in what was the biggest product roll out in history, corporate executives trying to figure out how to work with a difficult CEO, regional execs working with country managers across a continent, the staff of a new medical center prior to opening it's doors, and associations dedicated to giving care to their customers.

Conflict Resolution

Intense encounters aren't just like normal communications challenges, only more so. Stress, fear, and turbulence. They increase adrenaline and inhibit thinking and perceptions. Drawing from emotion coaching, nonviolent communications, tactical decision making under stress (TADMUS), and others, we built up a framework to help you keep your composure under stress, establish rapport rapidly, defuse conflict,and move forward in a controlled way .
